7 Ways to Look Good and Feel Great Without Hitting the Gym

I think it’s fair to say that everyone in life wants to look good and feel great. Most will come to the realization that they’ll never be on the cover of a magazine but being comfortable in your own skin is extremely important. For those looking to kick their attractiveness up a few notches, below are seven easy ways to look good and feel great without hitting the gym or even working up a sweat.

1.      Increase Your Water Intake

A great way for you to look younger is to drink more water. If you want to look good and feel great, water is a natural way to help keep your skin moist and hydrated which can help you reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

Water helps transport key nutrients to the cells of your skin which can help keep them hydrated and plump, so your skin constantly looks supple and attractive.

In addition, water is a great way to help you maintain a healthy weight. Drinking juice, soft drinks, alcohol, tea, and other calorie-filled beverages can add up the calorie-count quite quickly. Water should be your go-to beverage and it can also help you feel full and satiated longer throughout the day so you don’t find yourself snacking on junk which can lead to excess weight gain.

2.      Get More Sleep Each Night

In addition to helping your body and muscles recover better, sleep plays a key role in your appearance. If you’ve ever woken up after a long night of doing work, studying, or watching Netflix, you may have noticed you look… well, like you were hit by a bus. It’s ok, it happens to the best of us and it’s fixable by making sleep a priority.

When you sleep, blood flow increases to the skin – especially the face. When you don’t get enough good quality sleep at night, you may find you wake up with dark circles under your eyes as well as your face being somewhat “puffy.” This is normal – at least for those who don’t sleep enough.

If you want to look good and feel great, you need to ensure you’re getting a minimum of seven hours of quality sleep each night. Make it a priority and you’ll notice a change in your skin’s appearance almost immediately.

3.      Fix Your Poor Posture

As simple as it may seem, by fixing your poor posture you can look night and day different. This whole article revolves around how you can look good and feel great and the sad reality is, if your posture is bad, you’re going to run into issues down the road such as back pain, knee pain, hip pain, the list goes on and on.

The most common posture issue we see on a daily basis is not standing up straight. Generally, another one that goes right along with that is rolling the shoulders forward. Combine these two and you look like a hunched over old man or woman. The fix is simple. Stand nice and tall while also keeping your shoulders back and chest up. Stand in the mirror and practice this and you’ll be amazed at how great you look when you have perfect posture.

4.      Focus on Eating Healthy Foods

What’s on the outside tends to be a reflection of what’s on the inside. If you want to improve your appearance so you can look good and feel great, make sure you are fueling your body with healthy whole food options. Eating a bunch of sugary foods and processed junk is not going to help you look your best. In fact, it can cause blemishes and breakouts in your skin that you’ll need to treat and take care of not to mention it can cause you to put on and store body fat.

Focus your efforts on the outer perimeter of the grocery store where the freshest, most wholesome, and nutrient-dense products tend to be. These are the vegetables, fruits, lean meats, poultry, seafood, yogurt, and similar "health-food" options. Providing your body with the micronutrients it needs will not only help you look better on the outside but the inside as well.

5.      Use Moisturizer with SPF

Ladies have known about this secret for a long time. And gentlemen, this is why we can look several years older than what we really are. It comes down to moisturizing and protecting your skin with an SPF even when spending a short time outdoors in the sun. The fact of the matter is, you can do damage to your skin by simply walking outside – regardless if the sun is shining bright or not.

What you want to do is look for a moisturizer with SPF protection and use it every single day on your face. If you want to look good and feel great, to the point where people will think you’re several years younger than you truly are, don’t skip this very important strategy.

6.      Smile More

Say cheese! No seriously. Smile more. If you want to look good and feel great, nothing says “attractive” more than a fantastic smile. Men, women, it doesn’t matter! Showing off those pearly whites is an inviting vibe you’re giving off.

When people never smile, have a permanent frown, or and look uninviting, people aren’t going to find them attractive. When you smile and show you’re friendly and energetic, more people will rate you as being good-looking.

If you aren’t happy with the way your teeth look. Head to an orthodontist and have them take a look. They may recommend a certain procedure or if it’s simply a matter brightening and whitening them, they may recommend a whitening treatment and even for you to switch over to a whitening toothpaste. Either way, dental hygiene is incredibly important when trying to look your best.

7.      Find Clothes That Fit You

Have you ever tried to hide your “problem areas” with oversized clothing? For instance, if your stomach is an area of concern, maybe you went up a size or two for your shirt? The problem is, now you have an overly large shirt that doesn’t fit you and makes you look even bigger. Get the appropriate size where your clothing fits you but is not constricting.

If you have a lean build already but you want to look good and feel great with the clothes you wear, you may find sizing down is the answer. If you were used to wearing a size large, try on a medium. Having clothes that actually fit you can help improve your appearance. When you have baggy clothing, even if you're in shape it can be unflattering.

Last, don’t be afraid to visit a tailor. For a few bucks here and there, your tailor can improve the fit of just about anything you put on your body. They can taper your pants to provide a great line from the knee down to the ankle and show off your shoes while bringing in a sport coat around the waist will allow for the illusion of a bigger upper back and a smaller waist. Tailors can honestly work magic when it comes to clothing. Go visit your local tailor and you will not be disappointed.
