Wayne's last few days before his first competition...stay tuned to see how he did!

Technically, I've been in the home stretch for a few days now, but today marks the "less than a week" mark. Pressure's on now! It was leg day, and I always say that unless you're nervous on leg day, you're not doing something right. With my lack of carbs during this prep, I'm not sure I actually had the energy to be nervous, but I did find the energy to kick out an awesome workout. I'm trying to go for volume, especially in these last few days, but I'm just hard wired to go heavy with legs. I always have been - I have good genetics for legs, and there's just something so satisfying about pushing as much weight as possible. I can't wait to get back to the off season, but for now, I've tempered the urge to go heavy, and given in to the necessity of volume. ... I really did have to consciously do that, though - and it took a lot of willpower. Here's the breakdown: Hammer Strength seated calf extensions 540 3 x 15 (yes, I have strong calves, they're my strongest body part) Hack squats 270 1 x 20 360 2 x 15 Leg extensions Per leg 80 1 x 20 100 1 x 15 Drop set to failure Sumo squats 180 1 x 20 220 2 x 20 Adductors 200 3 x 20 I didn't do crunches specifically today because it seemed like every time I looked over at the station, someone was there. I did, however, do some hanging leg raises every time I passed that station which substituted for crunches nicely.
This was also day 3 for the Beast Mode preworkout. I really can't say enough about this stuff - it got me through what is classically my toughest workout day (legs - I do tend to punish them), and I didn't run out of steam by the end. The pump was just like it has been the past 2 days, and it's stayed with me throughout the day.
Tomorrow is another beast of a day - back. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
