There’s nothing better during the chilly weather than staying at home and watching holiday movies next to the fire. What can I say, it’s cuddle season! As relaxing as staying in and sipping hot cocoa can be, it’s not the ideal activity for staying in shape. We can all get distracted from our routines when Frosty the Snowman or Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer come on television, but we MUST prevail! I’ve come up with the perfect solution to this precise issue. Holiday Bootcamp Movies! They say couples that workout together, stay together… well here is your Couple’s Anti-Cuddling movie night workout!
Step One: PICK YOUR FLICK! Picking a great holiday movie is the key to making this workout fun. A comedy is always a great way to go because you’ll have a smile on your face the entire time. I recommend watching a movie you are familiar with so that it is easier to complete Step Two.
Step Two: PICK YOUR TRIGGERS! Once you’ve picked a familiar movie, select certain parts that occur frequently throughout the movie. For example, if you were to watch Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase, a trigger could be every time Clark Griswold breaks something, or every time the neighbors Todd and Margo are on screen.
Step Three: PICK YOUR PLYO! Coming up with a set of plyometric workouts that can easily be done in your living room such as mountain climbers, jumping jacks, sit ups, or high-knees.
Step Four: PAIR YOUR PLYO! Once you have your triggers and plyometric exercises selected, pair them together with a random number from 20-100. For example, every time the movie shows the neighbors Todd and Margo perform 60 mountain climbers etc.
Step Five: PLAY! Sit back, DON’T relax, press play and be prepared to kick it into high gear!
This is a great way to enjoy those nights in while watching a great holiday movie, hang out with your honey, and still get a workout in! The best part of this is that it seems like more of a game than a workout, and when you pair your triggers with something hilarious- you’ll be laughing the entire time!
