Just Keep Going

width= There will be days you want to quit, days you don’t feel like getting to the gym, days you just go through the motions.  Everyone, including me, has them.  But what separates the successful from the competition is who is willing to push through these days, who is willing to go and run five miles after a 10 hour work day, and who is willing to miss a party to go and lift legs. I don’t care who you are, or who you think you are - transforming your body will not be easy; neither mentally nor physically.  If you want results badly enough; if you truly desire to get in the great shape that you say that you do, you need to do get out and actually do something about it. Everyone wants help getting in shape and anyone can talk about how hard they’ll work or how well they’ll eat.  But not many people are willing to make the necessary sacrifices.  Sitting around and talking about going to the gym is one thing, but going there and pushing yourself is another. Every day, every meal, every workout, is an opportunity to improve.  How will you spend yours?  Will you waste them away in front of the t.v., will you continue to order pizza, will you continue to go out two nights a week, will you continually choose the elevator over the stairs? It’s up to you.  Don’t let anyone tell you anything differently, it’s not your friend or roommate’s fault, and it’s certainly not your parent’s fault.  Every choice you make will have an effect; will it be positive or negative?  “No one ever said it would be easy, they just said it would be worth it when you get there.” Jack Burdick is majoring in Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota and along with his weightlifting workouts, he competes in marathons and ultra-marathons (50 mile races) and is looking to earn a Cross-Fit title or to be recognized with The World’s Fittest Man title which is reserved for an ultra endurance power athlete.
