Proper Nutrition

width=You can weight train and do all the cardio you want and will not progress forward without proper nutrition. Why do we care about Nutrition? Well for one, everybody eats, but not everyone eats the way you should. A proper diet will maximize health outcomes and prevent obesity which, as we all know, can lead to death through heart disease, stroke, diabetes, etc. If you look at the word “Nutrition” you will notice the root word is “Nutrients” which is essentially its backbone. Nutrients are chemicals in foods that our bodies use for growth & function. They help provide energy, growth, tissue maintenance, and regulate physiological processes. From these nutrients you can form two classes: Macronutrients and Micronutrients. Macronutrients are needed in large quantities as they provide the body with sufficient energy. These Macros can be classified into 3 groups: Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats. Micronutrients on the other hand, are needed in small quantities and do not provide the body with energy but are still essential for an overall healthy functioning body. So I recommend you do an inventory of what you eat on a daily basis and adjust accordingly; planning your meals is the best way to avoid any pitfalls in your quest for proper nutrition.   Vincent Russo, 25 years old from Kenilworth NJ.
