New Year, New You

Vinny_Beast hat_1To be successful in anything you choose to do, whether in weight training or in your career, you need obtain a positive attitude in life. Take this beginning of the New Year and start off a new, more positive you. Let’s look at one aspect, living a healthy and fit lifestyle. If you’re serious about changing your body and living a healthy and fit lifestyle you need to look at the glass as being half full. Start out with first getting rid of bad eating habits. This begins with what you choose to put in your kitchen. You are what you eat and if you only have healthy selections to choose from you’ll be fueling your body with the right nutrients.

Next should be focusing on building a good, solid foundation. This takes time, patience, and persistence. Remember, if it happened overnight everyone would look like a Greek God, but the truth is, you need to have the will power to restrain from urges, and the determination to want to climb over every obstacle in your way and make yourself better. When you 1st start building this foundation, your worries of what people may think of you should be thrown to the wind. Worry about how you feel about yourself. You shouldn’t go into the gym and worry about how much weight you’re throwing around, and who’s watching you use lighter weights, instead worry about you stimulating your muscle and developing the mind-to-muscle connection. Don’t’ worry about the snacks your giving up; instead, think about how those snacks would keep you from reaching your ultimate goal. Worry about the schedule you need to stick to, instead of how your gym time may interfere with your social life. Take the initiative and see the positive in everything you do even if you give up some pleasures.

Once you start focusing on you, then it’s time to take the next step by not surrounding yourself with negative people. Negative people will only try and bring you down to their level. This year you must strive to stay positive and remember that no matter how bad things look, they could always be worse, and that night is darkest just before dawn.  That being said, it is inevitable that you will encounter some people who do doubt you. When you do encounter these “haters”, use that doubt as fuel to feed to the fire that burns deep down inside of you.

This year, have that positive attitude and understand that “Rome wasn’t built in one day.” Persistence is the key player here as you must not give up nor give in, but yet stick to your plan to reach your goals no matter how long it takes, because with time it will come.
